Inka Detail
Angel Chavez Inka
Angel Chavez attended the National Superior School of Beaux Arts of Peru. However, he he left the school before graduating because of his resistance to continue creating works of realism and his urge to paint using thick, colorful strokes, as in the above painting. Rebelling against the ideals of arts of the time, his persistence drove him to exhibit his works in Lima, Mexico, Chile, and New York. This piece entitled "Inka" is painted in a personal manner. While the Inka created the culture and communities that Chavez grew up with, their exact way of life no longer existed. He paints this native Inka in a modernistic way as to imply that while the Inka were no more, they were still very much a part of his everyday life as well as those who lived near him. This piece measures 24" x 7" and is priced at $9,500.00. Works of art by Angel Chavez belong to the Nation's Cultural Patrimony meaning that the pieces of his that are sold in Peru may no longer leave the country. This piece is available for purchase in the United States. To set up an appointment to see this piece, please call us at 321-722-6000.
