This piece is by Angel Chavez, one of the Great Masters of modern Peruvian art. The title of the original oil painting, "Calor," means heat. The work takes on the meaning giving the viewer a visual sense of heat. As the sun sets in the background, it blazes against the copper skin of the two native, nude women. Chavez was very well known for painting pre-Hispanic north Peruvian Pottery as can be seen atop the women's heads. The pots are filled with native fruits and vegetables adding to the village-like motif. This piece measures 31" x 25" framed and is priced at $6,500.00. Works of art by Angel Chavez belong to the Nation's Cultural Patrimony meaning that the pieces of his that are sold in Peru may no longer leave the country. This piece is available for purchase in the United States. To set up an appointment to see this piece, please call us at 321-722-6000.
