'TIS THE SEASON September is here and so are new product lines! At this time of year, our stock is at it's fullest! New ornaments have arrived including December Diamonds, Egyptian Glass, and our adorable lifelike birds. We have also received a new line of lightweight metal earrings that are hand made in the United States. If you have ever wanted a corkscrew and bottle stopper in one you are in luck, these hand-crafted wood topped stoppers are the perfect gift for the season. Also new to the gallery are our small raku pitchers and vases. A master artist who has been working with the medium for over 20 years makes these unique works here in Florida. GHOST ENCOUNTER
With October fast approaching it is never too late to plan for Halloween. October 24th we will be hosting the “Ghost Encounter” with tarot readings, face painting, photo opportunities with the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, the "Bodies & Beyond” art exhibit, and the “Ghost Encounter” scavenger hunt. For $5 per person, you can help us catch our upstairs inhabitant before he escapes to ruin Christmas for everyone! A picture of the original facade of the Christmas Cottage is shown on the left. It was originally built more than 100 years ago, and has a long history of tenants. We've recently discovered that those past tenants just may have stuck around. MASTERS OF ART Fall is nearing, and we couldn't be any happier because that also means it's time to fall in love with the arts in Historic Downtown Melbourne. Be sure to check out over 50 artist booths running down East New Haven Avenue on Saturday & Sunday, October 3rd & 4th from 10am to 5pm both days. The mission of this show is to honor the visual arts and artists, while at the same time showcase our merchants and generating publicity for Downtown Melbourne. By using a highly selective art and vendor jurying process, we pledge to make "Main Street Masters of Art" an upscale destination for families, and enthusiasts of finer commodities. FREE BRACELET MAKING Learn the ins and outs of materials and crimping. Find your inner artist and have fun with a bit of jewelry design. In this two hour workshop, students will complete a bracelet with either their own stones or stones provided by the instructor. Donna Yarger will take you step by step in creating a unique piece of jewelry and giving you the know how to continue making your own pieces. GALLERY OF GHOULS We’re currently looking for artists to participate in our “Gallery of Ghouls Art Show" on October 24th from 12-5 outside, in the Christmas Cottage Parking lot. Artists will be given a 10’ x 10’ space for $40.00 to showcase and sell their own festive creations. Please include a sample of your work, as all works are subject to review.
