Spring SolitudeCharles Pabst "Spring Solitude"
NEW ARRIVALS - SMALL IS BIG!
The landscape works by internationally acclaimed American artist Charles H. Pabst have arrived at the gallery. The artist is heralded for his breathtaking masterpieces and his art shows have sold out throughout the country since the 1980s. We also recently received new limited edition releases by artist, Steve Barton, inventor of the famous "wavy frame." Barton has added new styles and stains to his wavy selection making his relaxing beach scenes unique and beautiful. All of these new works are 15" x 30" or smaller - great for condos and groupings! DOODLES - 1st Annual Student Show
DOODLES is an acronym for Desire, Originality, Optimism, Dedication, Latitude, Education & Support: all key elements in becoming a success in the artworld. We're thrilled about seeing what Brevard County art students are producing. So, if you're one of those students who sits at your desk doodling instead of paying attention to what's on the blackboard, now may be your chance to show off your artistic talent. Submission packets are to be received at our gallery no later than June 6, 2008. The show will run from July 25 - September 30, a full ten week exhibit. Students selected for the exhibit will receive automatic acceptance into the Melbourne Main Street Masters of Art Festival. To see other benefits and requirements for the show, click here to download the pdf file that has complete details.

"IT'S FAUX REAL"
The opening for "It's Faux Real" this past Friday, January 25th, was our biggest turnout yet! We would like to thank everyone who attended the opening and making it the success that it was. We appreciate all of the continued support from the community, and hope that everyone finds the time to stop in and see us again so that you can really take in the art without the large crowd. Precision Contemporary Dance Company members (pictured here before the event began) were able to gather enough funds from the raffle to assist the non-profit dance company purchase costumes. If you were unable to make the opening, the show will be on view at the gallery through March 30th and LoPressionism is open seven days a week!

YOUR INNER CHAMELEON!
Coming late this spring, we will be offering a color theory workshop with a focus in painting. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned artist, this workshop will give you practice mixing and understanding color. Do your paintings look flat? It's probably because you're not exercising the power of complimentary colors - We'll teach you these terms and definitions, the color wheel, color tricks and their psychological, personal, and emotional implications. The gallery has plenty of easels onsite, so you won't have to lug yours with you. We've not yet solidified a date, however if you would like to be placed on our waiting list, give us a call or send us an email. We're also taking day and time suggestions so that those of you interested will have the opportunity to take the workshop during a time that works for you.

Manuel Zapata Orihuela "Untitled"
ORIGINAL PERUVIAN WORKS
Manuel Zapata Orihuela was one of the greatest influences to Peruvian art students at the National Superior School of Beaux Arts in Lima, Peru in the 1940s and 50s. He was best known for his realistic paintings using saturated colors. Angel Chavez left the National Superior School of Beaux Arts of Peru before graduating because of his resistance to continue creating works of realism and his urge to paint using thick, colorful strokes. Works by these artists display common themes to the indigenous culture which surrounded them. For further information on each of the pieces and the artists, click here.

BEWARE CRUISELINE ART AUCTION PIRATES
It was recently brought to our attention that there have been numerous reports of scandal at sea. Many travelers on major cruiselines have been making statements about their unpleasant experiences with at sea art auctions. Warnings are now all over the internet about "reputable" art companies taking advantage of the party atmosphere on board the ships, pressuring clients to complete sales when they've not read the entire contract, and giving false statements about the authenticity and real market value of art works being purchased. There are still many happy customers who purchase works from art auctions on cruiselines, and they will continue to be so if they simply hang the art on the walls when they return home. After all, if you love the work, that's what really matters. However, those who research their works after the cruise are calling these auctioneers modern pirates saying, "They wear suits, speak enthusiastically...and rob you blind." If you would like further information on this, click here for some helpful links.

ZEN TRUTHS
• Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. In fact, just pretty much leave me alone.
• The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt and leaky tire.
• It's always darkest before dawn. So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it.
• Don't be irreplaceable. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.
• Always remember that you're unique. Just like everyone else.
• Never test the depth of the water with both feet.
• If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car  payments.
• Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
• If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
•If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
• If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.
• Some days you're the bug; some days you're the windshield.
• Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.
• The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.
• A closed mouth gathers no foot.
• Duct tape is like 'The Force'. It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
• There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works.
• Generally speaking, you aren't learning much when your lips are moving.
• Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
• Never miss a good chance to shut up.
• Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.
