FEAST FOR THE EYES - Mark your calendars! Join us at the opening reception of our new Latin Art themed show will be held on Friday, November 2nd from 6:00pm - 9:00pm, the same day as the celebration of The Day of the Dead. Embrace the art of this holiday which celebrates the lives of those loved ones who have passed. This show will run through January 4th of 2008. One artist we will be featuring is Mexican painter, Felix Zapata, whom art critics call one of the best colorists and engravers in Mexico today. This is quite an accomplishment as even the critics didn't know that at a young age, Felix developed Retinitis Pigmentosa. While Felix has lost his sight and can now only see small, dark shadows, he has not lost the vision within or the passion to create. A portion of the sales from the evening's event will benefit Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice and Palliative Care. |

6 WEEKS of PRECIOUS METAL CLAY - The basics and beyond!
Whether you've already had an introductory PMC class, or a more advanced one, this 6-week session makes the perfect holiday gift for you or anyone! We've had so many requests for different levels of PMC training that Linda Kline has offered to dedicate Thursdays to us starting January 31st through March 6th so she can combine all levels and a variety of projects in one course! Precious Metal Clay (PMC) has revolutionized jewelry making. A user-friendly medium, PMC looks, acts and feels like clay but is pulverized granules of pure silver (.999). New students will learn basic techniques to produce exquisite jewelry designs of pure, fine silver, including pendants, earrings, rings, and beads. Returning students are invited to use this class as an open studio for independent study while learning new and advanced techniques. The instructor will collect a materials fee of $95 at the first class session, which includes a basic tool kit and enough silver to complete at least three jewelry designs. Additional silver will be available for sale during the class. A different technique/jewelry project will be covered each week. Register by January 20th for either Thursday afternoons, 2-5 p.m. OR Thursday evenings, 6-9 p.m. Cost is $150.00 per person for the entire 6 weeks, which includes a $20.00 non-refundable registration fee. |

CANVAS OF MOODS This canvas of day looks dolorous, faded and forlorn - a solid difficulty of grey... or, maybe brown... like a frown. Yet, buried threads whisper their hoarse thirst for the luscious wetness of colors. |
So, I comply by squeezing out varying values of green, which arch to an uplift of trees amid added hues of blues, washing into sky and stream. Spontaneously, it seems, a sprinkling of white shows up to highlight the changing scene, prompting latent flecks of lavender off the emotional palette. |
Then, voila! Oh, joy!
Emerging flowers of promise startle my spirit with remembered passion. Surprise! Orange arrives with its perky sense of humor prancing across the view... and even you would have to laugh! -by Pat Frazier |
