Bodies and Beyond October 24 - December 30

Audry Cramblit
"The femmes are a celebration of the avant-garde women of the world. They are confident, fun, sexy, and outrageous. Dressed in contemporary upscale clothing worn like plumage on a rare and interesting bird, I pay homage to designers and photographers of the fashion industry who inspire my work. Cast in bronze, because of its intrinsic strength and substance, these qualities are reflected in the personalities of the femmes. Additionally, when molten, bronze flows like water into the mold to reproduce every minute texture and detail into a perennial work of art. The intent of this body of work is to depict proud women who live in the moment, and unapologetically take charge of their space. These flamboyant women will their way into existence, and usually before I finish them, the name themselves too. They are unabashedly big or skinny or beautiful or ugly but they are not wallflowers. The femmes are metaphors for the unique power and strength we all possess."

J.Lynn Kelly
"This series of work began when two dear friends of mine became mired in a malady of the spirit and were seeking release. One of them, has now made much progress as she sought to look inside herself. The other, has regressed into anger and fear, as he sought to rearrange his external situation to suit his desires. While they were in the throes of pain, the first two paintings emerged from me and I began this journey. Although my friends inspired me, in a way, my Free People are all self-portraiture. Some Free People are separated from their surroundings-- isolated and alone. Others have lost the ability to see themselves as individual organisms and have merged into one with their surroundings. It became impossible to portray them as different from their environment, and I could not determine where “they” ended and their “place” began. Some live in the past and fear the future; others live in the now and have no fear of yesterday, today, or the hereafter. Most have only one eye in the conventional sense of the word, though they have closed up spaces where vision might have been, and may some day reawaken. The spiritual eye is “one” and empowers the person to see beyond the sense experience. But the closed mind is “one” as well, rendering the human unable to see inside where the truth lies unrevealed. The paintings speak to me about what the people are doing in them, why they’re there, who they are, where they came from, where they’re going, what they want, what they dream about."

Brenda Kendrick Truesdale
For over twenty years I have devoted my time and talents to creating visual images that convey a sense of spirit. Each one of my sculpture designs goes through an extensive process from thought to finished piece. All are a limited edition of seven to seventeen adding to the preciousness of each piece. I start with an idea, and as I am working each original I become entranced - almost obsessed until the design is worked out. Many times when the piece is finished I step back with the question of “Where did this come from?”. I find that artwork is more fresh and inventive if the design is not over thought but simply brought out from within ones own self. I have had many years of experience in the casting of bronze sculpture including working at Bronzart Foundry Inc in Sarasota for over twelve years. There I have worked on numerous pieces from small to monumental in every genre. With this experience I have been able to hone my own sense of style in my sculpture. Recently, I have become aggressive in marketing my work by entering shows and soliciting galleries and Museums. I am very dedicated to creating original and quality sculpture for exhibition. Born and raised in Florida, I have recently made my way back and am residing in the small hometown where I grew up; Melbourne Beach. I am married with two teenage children. I am so happy that my children will enjoy the same privilege of growing up in a sleepy beachside town as I.
Fur Elise
Sia Aryai
Born in Tehran, Iran, Sia Aryai displayed an interest in art from early childhood. Surrounded by a stringent cultural environment, as a child, Aryai secretly sketched female figures from smuggled foreign magazines. As the rumblings of an Islamic revolution increased in the mid 70's, Aryai left the Ayatollah's regime for England where he received an education and gained freedom for his artistic passion. Later, he ventured on to the United States, where in the mid 80's he discovered the medium of photography which gave him the perfect means to capture the beauty of women. Each photograph is a hand embellished pigment print on canvas and incorporates sanding of the surface to soften the outlines of the subject and to diffuse the edges between light and shadow.
